Bedroom Wars: Pick the Bed

Oh, reader persons do I have a delightful delight for you to delight in for the next couple of months! Do you ever get giddy with excitement when it's that time of year for Today Throws a Wedding and you get to vote on all the little details of some poor helpless couple's wedding? I sure do. Mostly because I'm genuinely disappointed by the general public's poor taste and it makes me feel superior. Jokes.

Well, since you obviously made the wise decision to read my blog I know you are incapable of making bad decisions. Therefore, I'm going to give YOU the opportunity to design a room. This is going to be quite the little experiment but I'm beyond excited to give you the control! Each week I will give you multiple options for different design elements and we'll see what you lads come up with.

We will be starting with the bedroom. Mostly because I've been under the weather this week and I've been spending the majority of my time in this room. Where to begin? Well duh people. The bed. The piece of furniture for whence the room is in existence. Does that make sense? I'm on some serious meds.

Let the bedroom wars begin. Which will be the last bed standing? Only time will tell...

1. Clarke Poster Bed - Layla Grace
2. Irvington Nickel Bed -
High Fashion Home
3. Coralie Bed -
Anthropologie
4. Silverleaf Poster Bed -
David Skinner Antiques
5. Walker Iron Bed -
Oly Sudio
6. Victoria Bed -
Z Gallerie

Voting will be open until February 2nd. Which one would you want to cozy up in with Watson? Vote now!

**Editor's note: If you don't want to vote because you think I can see who you are...then you're looney. I can't tell who you are so please vote!

Watson Wednesdays: The Hair Cut Series II

So, it's Wednesday. And I haven't blogged since last Wednesday. Apologies. But I'm here now and ready to delight you with another installation of Watson Wednesdays: The Hair Cut Series. You see, Watson is a chameleon and can adapt to many different looks that are interpreted differently by many different people. Why, just this morning two people in the Starbuck's drive thru exclaimed how he looked both like a rug and a human. Well, in this next photo of shame, he looks more the part of a specific human. A cartoon human. You might recognize him...

And now, maybe you'll see the likeness...

If you don't see it, I can't help you. He even has it down to the bandanna. Granted Watson's bandanna has dogs wearing bandannas on it and Sam's is a masculine yellow, everything else is pretty much the same.

Until next time... it only gets better...

Watson Wednesdays: The Hair Cut Series

Many readers, namely my mother, have asked me whatever happened to Watson Wednesdays. While I'm sure none of you find my dog quite as amusing as I do, I know everyone will appreciate the fact that he is a man of many looks. Some of my co-workers (hi!) have gotten quite the amusement out of Watson's wretched bouffants and I'm sure you will be equally as amused. So, for the next few weeks Watson Wednesdays are back in a hairy way. I'll be featuring the good (there really isn't any good), the bad and the horrifically ugly hairstyles he has sported over the last few years. So here it goes...

I like to call this style the "Sphynx". Obviously for the pyramidical shape that the talented groomer has accomplished here. Notice he thinks he looks awesome.

Please, for the love of Mary, if you have a legit groomer please pass along their info. I can't take this kind of humiliation any longer.

Until next week...

Monday Memories

I had lunch today at Ouisie's and realized the last time I was there I was celebrating my sweet friend Elizabeth's nuptials. The restaurant looked amazing and smelled even better. Elizabeth's step-mother, Mimi (HI MIMSICLES!), used to be in the floral industry and she knows what's up. Here's a sampling of what the evening looked like...

Elizabeth and husband Andrew had a "cheese" cake.
Clever little minxes.

It was a beautiful evening and one I will always remember when I dine at Ouisie's. Do you ever have those flashbacks when you visit certain places? It's memories like these that make Mondays bearable.

I couldn't leave you hanging without a glimpse of the bride. Remember that I posted here about my sweet talented friend and founder of Elizabeth Olliver. Seen here with Ollie man himself.

Be sure to check out her incredible creations on her website: www.elizabetholliver.com

And her dresses are even more beyond. If you can believe.

Happy Third Anniversary to my Hairy Man

I am having a very hard time believing that three years ago today I marched my butt up to the Humane Society of North Texas and impulsively adopted a wirey matted canine named Coco. Watson, as he came to be known, belonged to a family who lived on a farm who couldn't care for him anymore due to an ill family member. I had never owned an adopted dog before and I'm confident I will never buy from a breeder again. There's a special kind of friendship you have with an adopted dog that can't easily be put into words. I do know, however, that Watson knows I saved him. He thanks me everyday with kisses and cuddles and I thanked him right back with a special Sprinkles doggie cupcake today.

If you haven't considered adopting a pet, please look into it and see if it's right for you and your family. There are thousands of pets looking for homes and I know there's one out there that will love you as much as you love them!

If you're not into the whole canine companionship kind of thing at least consider adopting a pooch because they make great home accessories*. Just look at these homes...

*I in no way, shape or form endorse you buying a dog because they make your home look better. That was my lame attempt at a joke.

Sally Wheat's Dining Room via Facebook
Sally adopted. It's obviously cool.

Paloma Contreras of La Dolce Vita has a sweet poochie named Tate.
He and Watson clearly got the message that sitting in human seats is pretty rad.

Kyle Knight of Knight Moves is a foster mom to pups.
She obviously gets super karma points from the canine community.

And there you have it. Behind every designer is a sweet puppy. Go get yourself one.

A New Year and New Beginnings

My new year's resolutions are getting a late start this year which I think is still pretty great considering my new year's resolutions never get jump started to begin with. I told myself I was going to go into the office today to get some outstanding items taken care of. Instead, I'm in my own little office and I couldn't be more thrilled. I promise I'll go in tomorrow, boss.

Enter New Year's Resolution #1: Just freaking buy a desk already.

If you have been a longtime follower or backlog stalker of my blog, you would know that I have had an intense obsession with the ever popular Parsons Desk from West Elm. I never jumped the gun after posting about it here and sharing my concerns about my menacing canine companion. But now, after finding a delightful substitute at World Market on sale for $180 I had to just do it already. And now, my friends, I am too legit to quit and I'm destined to take over the blogging world.

Enter New Year's Resolution #2: Turn off The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills (because I've watched this episode four times already) and blog.

You may have noticed that about a month or so ago my blog got a bit of a face lift. That's because I'm trying to tempt myself into blogging more/I have design ADD. I didn't really know what to talk about when I started this blog nor did I think I was interesting enough to have an opinion. My stats tell me differently. Granted, 33 posts in 11 months and 26 followers is nothing to bat my eyelashes at, but I'm pretty proud and want to delight all of you with more design deets this year. My GOAL is to blog twice a week and have 5 new followers a month. I'm going to try. Really, I will. And don't be shy about following me. I won't think you're weird that you think I'm so cool that you want to know every single thing I write on here. It will be a lot more fun now that I have the Creative Suite on my computer at home.

Enter New Year's Resolution #3: Fork over the cash already and buy Adobe Creative Suite 5.

This one makes me cringe. Do you KNOW how expensive the Creative Suite is? DO YOU?! Well, I do because I've been using it for the past 5+ years and I know my life is miserable without it. Which, by the way, is why my photogs and things have been so icky this past year. I've gone and done it though. I've purchased my loving design programs and will be able to tease you with radical text treatments and color palettes that are sure to bedazzle your brain. Plus I can write really cool things on pictures like, "too legit to quit".

Enter New Year's Resolution #4: Find your inner graphic designerista and start freelancing so you can afford your champagne taste.

And we come to my final and actual New Year's resolution which is why #1-3 have come to be. I haven't really used the blog to showcase my skillz and for that me thinks I'm foolish. I have, however, had a few freelance jobs pop up on the side that I've been working on at home and I'm really excited about them! So, I've gotten serious, bought a desk, pledged to blog more about said skillz, and bought the programs I need to set it all in motion.

I know 2011 is going to be an amazing year and I'm so excited what these new opportunities will bring.

Much love to you!
