Watson Wednesdays: Picasso Pup

This past Friday man friend and I wandered over to Pinot's Palette and indulged in a little painting and drinking. Will got me this treat for my birthday and it couldn't have been more perfect. I have been wanting to get a painting of Watson done (don't act like your disgusted and/or shocked) for a while now and it was even more special that I was the one that was going to do the painting!

When we got there this is what was staring back at me. How could I perfect such perfection? Watson as nature had intended. Beautiful. I'm done. That was easy. Now I can just booze.

Then we get our instructions. "Start painting the background". Ummm... ok? That's helpful. Luckily I came in with a general idea of what I wanted.

Then we get our second instructions. "Ok, start painting the animal". Miraculously it ended up looking like a chewabacca-ier version of Watson. Which I happen to appreciate.

Please excuse my foul appearance. I'm going to attribute it to me being "really into my art".

So we left with two very different looking paintings. Will's looks like a horrifying image that is certain to make children cry if they saw it walking to the kitchen for a glass of water in the middle of the night. Mine looked like he was about to jump out of the painting, pull out a light saber and give Han Solo a high five. All in all, it was a great time and if you live in Houston you should try this place out.

I think he's pleased with his likeness.

I'm thinking I'll need to bring it to work with me at Boxwood Interiors. That's my way of telling you yesterday was my first day of work. SMILES FOR EVERYONE!

  1. I do not appreciate your personal art critiques of my wonderful image.

  2. Will, I think your rendition of Watson is fun, plus you were the one who planned this awesome birthday event for Lauren. She knows you're the best!

  3. Hi Lauren,

I wasn't able to find a way to email you, but I just came across your blog today after researching Ashley Putnam. I wonder if I could use (and credit!) your photos of her house in a blog post for Thursday?

    My blog is

    Thank you!

  4. Absolutely!! Thanks so much for asking! I'll be sure to check out the post.

  5. So finally... I get to see a picture of 'your' Will!

  6. That looks great! Watson looks rather dashing! I did a similar class and we had to use certain colors for our background and we could only paint our dog in shades of brown. Since my dog is yellow, he ended up looking like a dirty pig (and he's totally WAY cuter than that). I think I'm going to go back to the class and break all their rules and paint a fun background like you did :)

  7. Love the review! A friend of mine wants us to have a party there and I was skeptical. Thanks for sharing with those of us who live in Houston!

PS Animals are hard to paint- I am super impressed.

  8. Oh my gosh that is adorable! You are hilarious too!
