Rustic Rodeo Elegance

It's that time of year that us Houstonians get our boots shined, polish our belt buckles and make our way out to the world famous (I've always wanted to say that) Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo. However, this year I'm just not one of them. I'm usually not one to enjoy actually feeling like livestock and being corralled and forced into a pack of people where they rub up against me and get all up in my bid-ness. And no, Mardi Gras and I don't get along either.

So, instead of making my way out to the big event, I thought I would throw on my boots and touch on the beauty of rustic elegance for you lovely people. I can get down with y'all gettin' up in my bid-ness through the interwebs.

It seems that every year we see a new rustic trend that sweeps the nation and eventually pops up in the big box stores for our purchasing pleasure. We've seen antlers, mounts, burlap and now there's a cowhide or zebra rug in just about every interior I see. Not hatin', just sayin'. I have absolutely hopped on board with these trends in honor of my Texas roots but it got me thinking, "what's next?"

No joke, I had an intense dream once about a room that looked just like this for my many grandchildren that would come and visit me at my ranch home upon retirement and months later I saw this image. I almost passed out. Almost.

So are you inspired? What's the next big thing? Could it be big, beautiful, rustic beams with traditional elegance to counterbalance the party on the ceiling? What do you think?

  1. Really gorgeous spaces. I really can't decide which is my favorite. But maybe the first one from Lonny.
I love that ornate chandelier with the wooden beams and white upholstery. All these rooms need a metallic cowhide, stat.

    Great post!
