The Anti-Pink, Pro-Navy Campaign

As of late, the color pink has been forced down my eye sockets and ends up poisoning my body until I start convulsing. We all know last month was the month of love, hosting Valentine's Day. Seems like all of my fellow bloggies (like my BFF Mackenzie) had a discussion I was not a part of and determined that it was time to force feed pink to each of their readers. I'm not amused my friends. Not amused in the least. As if that wasn't enough, I received this in the mail:

No offense to the ever amazing and talented Windsor Smith.
This room is actually tres precious and stunning but pink just aint for me
.
The horror. The sheer and utter horror. A whole issue of my favorite periodical devoted to a color that had been haunting my blog dreams. Even my favorite goddess, Windsor Smith, couldn't pull me out of my pinkcoma with her adorable living room on the cover. As I snuggled in bed to read it and "not judge the book by it's cover" I became enraged and threw it on the ground. The. Pink. Must. End.

You see, I didn't grow up loving the color that most little girls adored. I didn't even have a pink room. Well, that's a lie. I had one pink room. But, the painters accidentally painted my room blue and my brother's room pink. After the problem was rectified, the room was still blue at heart. Which eases my soul. But alas, the color was just never in the cards for me.

Now that February has passed and this issue of House Beautiful is "stored" somewhere deep underneath my bed, I think it's time for a fresh perspective. So, that's why I give you NAVY my friends. Ahhh...crisp, cool, classic navy. Warms and cools my heart in so many ways. And with that, may you be refreshed and purified of any and all things pink...

  4. I love that Navy Dining Room!! and I agree, too much pink was described best by the mom from Steal Magnolias: "That sanctuary looks like it's been hosed down with Pepto-Bismol." yuck.

  5. I found you from Holly's blog...I love your taste!

I couldn't agree more about the navy! The Puttman dining room is on my inspiration board...as well as a navy office make-over I recently saw in BM Hale Navy. Gonna pick some paint up this week!
